A man was taken to hospital with shock and burns to his arms, legs and body after a fire in Faversham on Wednesday night.

The blaze broke out just before 11pm in the basement of a mid-terraced house in Park Road. Two fire crews from Faversham and one from Teynham attended.

More than half of the basement was destroyed and the rest of the building was smoke damaged. The cause is being investigated.
