A man has been arrested after 15 sheep were found dead and injured in a field in Kent.

The animals were found by a passer-by in Wrotham on Monday.

Some had already died, while others had broken or missing limbs and were in so much pain they had to be put down.

It is believed the animals had been run over while they grazed. The gate to the field the animals were being kept in had been opened and there were tyre tracks from a four wheel drive on the ground.

A 24-year-old man from St Paul's Cray, near Swanley, was arrested over the incident by police in Bromley yesterday.

He will remain in custody until January 13, when he is due to be questioned.
