One wrote: "Hopefully the fire has not damaged any pupils' work."

Others wanted to know why they had not been notified.

One mum replied: "It happened at 6 this morning in C-Block which has the main reception and post-16 block upstairs.

"The school did not have any phone lines so was unable to contact parents or post anything on the internet.

"It was only a small fire and didn't affect any children."

The secondary school in Swanstree Avenue, Sittingbourne, specialises in the performing and creative arts, sports and engineering.

It has 1,100 pupils and is a member of the Swale Academies Trust.
