The 90-year-old was invited along by owners Donna and Simon who opened the shop which specialises in antiques and crafts in October.

Donna, who was a big fan of the show as a child, described Mr Baker as a “true gentleman”.

Much to her delight, he posed for a picture with her and a Charman and Hawes 1965 Dalek.

Sid’s Emporium sits between County Clothes and Vicki’s Bridal Boutique in East Cross.

The owners spent three months converting the space, which features 52 stalls.

This is not the first time Mr Baker has been spotted in the town. In November, he made a surprise visit to Brunch and Brew cafe.

Sharing news of the celebrity appearance on Facebook, Brunch and Brew posted a photo of Mr Baker enjoying a hot drink.

Mr Baker portrayed the eccentric time traveller in a record 172 episodes of the hit BBC series.

While he hails from Liverpool, his connection to Kent traces back to his college days at Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama in Sidcup.
